UCLA Invites Dr. Ash Pahwa To Conduct
Another DVD & MPEG Course
Irvine,
California, 1st August 2000—Dr.
Ash Pahwa, chief executive officer of Irvine, California-based DV Studio
Technologies, LLC, has been invited by UCLA to return teach another day-long
course, entitled “How to Make Your Own Digital Versatile Disc (DVD)” on
Saturday, 21st October from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The course meets
at the UCLA Extension Lindbrook Center, 10920 Lindbrook Dr., in Westwood

All the steps required to make a DVD will be
demonstrated by Dr. Pahwa including live video encoding, decoding, editing,
authoring and burning of a DVD on a DVD burner.
The seminar will be divided into three sessions. The first session
will explain the technical details of image, audio and video data types which
are storage intensive. The second
session will cover DVD authoring which is defined as the process of preparing
content, encoding video and audio, and creating the final disc image.
The third session will deal with DVD as a computer peripheral and
the fundamental concepts of DVD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD-RAM, and DVD-R+W.
Dr. Ash Pahwa is considered one of the pioneers in the
development of the CD-ROM and digital video industries since 1986.
He has specialized in database and file management systems, and designed
database management and operating systems software.
At DV Studio, Dr. Pahwa developed CD-Gen and CD-Arch pre-mastering and
mastering software for the CD-Recordable market, and Apollo and MPEGCamera, both
real-time MPEG-1 encoder boards for the digital video market.
DV Studio developed Apollo Expert DVDer, an MPEG-2 encoder/decoder that
edits MPEG-2 video and provides DVD authoring.
