Yes Video Chooses Apollo Expert MPEG-2 Encoder
From DV Studio Technologies

Yorba Linda, California, 24th September 2001DV Studio Technologies, LLC (DVST) announced today that its Apollo Expert MPEG-2 encoder/decoder card has been selected by Yes Video of San Jose, California to power their automated DVD Creation Systems.

With backing from Kodak and others, Yes Video is a pioneer in the development of automated DVD Creation Systems. Customers send in their videotape and receive this content back in the form of a DVD with scene indexing and a custom DVD package.

According to Dr. Subutai Ahmad, Yes Video’s VP of Engineering, “Our requirements for performance, robustness, and cost led us to explore MPEG encoder/decoders from various companies. In the end, the choice was simple…Apollo Expert from DV Studio Technologies provided the solution we needed.”

Though less visible due to its heavily OEM-oriented business model, DVST’s proven technology is used by many other entities throughout the world.

According to Stephen Godfrey, DV Studio Technologies’ Vice President of Marketing & Sales, “Yes Video’s engineers needed a proven industrial-grade encoder/decoder capable of handling MEPG-2, MPEG-1, and VideoCD applications. It had to provide professional image quality—and still fit within their B.O.M. cost structure. We’re delighted that Apollo Expert met both their performance and cost objectives.”

DV Studio Technologies provides MPEG compression and DVD creation solutions as an OEM supplier and also under its own Apollo trademark.
